The Outfit Formula I Reach for When I Don’t Have Time to Think
I’m a retired “neutrals-only” girl. For YEARS, my closet (and if I’m being honest my branding identity) was basically a sea of beige, black and white. Somewhere along the way I realized that wearing colors, genuinely makes me happy. Now I love dopamine dressing: color, pattern, an unexpected combination. A great outfit (as shallow as it sounds) can revamp the energy of my day.
But I’ve also learned that slowing down the pace of my days sometimes means knowing when to remove a decision from my plate.
There are mornings when taking twenty minutes to fluster my way through picking out to wear just isn’t it. I don’t want to stand in my closet, changing three times, and suddenly realize I’m rushing out the door. That’s the opposite of the pace I’m trying to create.
So while I love having fun with clothes, I also love having a few no-thinking -required outfit formulas tucked away for those days. Something I know I can put on, feel confident and go.
Denim on denim has become one of those for me. It’s simple without feeling boring, pulled together without trying too hard, and easy to make your own by changing up the accessories.
I love the way this Levi’s trucker jacket looks all the way buttoned up with a similar wash pair of Levi’s jeans.
Maybe that’s all part of livable luxury, too: not making everything more elaborate, but finding little ways to make life feel easier.
